Volunteer
A little time can make a big difference. Legacy of Life Hawaii’s valued volunteers are compassionate people who make a difference in the lives of others by encouraging organ and tissue donation in our community. Our volunteers are a vital and appreciated part of the team. Please join us in sharing this important message! There are many ways to show your support for organ and tissue donation, from simply wearing a green awareness ribbon to volunteering at a community event. Regardless of your preference, there’s a place for you.
If you would like to be a volunteer ambassador for us, please download and complete the volunteer application packet, and mail, email or fax it to us at Legacy of Life Hawaii, 405 North Kuakini Street, Suite 810, Honolulu, HI 96817, or give us a call at (808) 599-7630. After receiving your completed application, we will invite you to attend a volunteer training to learn more about Legacy of Life Hawaii, the donation process, organ and tissue donation, and our volunteer opportunities. For more information email us at outreach@legacyoflifehawaii.org.
Volunteer opportunities
Green Ribbons
Wear one to show your support, and make sure to tell everyone that asks that the green ribbon stands for organ, tissue and eye donation awareness.
You can also:
- make the ribbons at home,
- suggest the ribbon-making project as a service project for others, or
- get involved in distributing the ribbons in businesses state-wide.
Share Your Story
One of the best ways to educate others on the importance of organ & tissue donation is to share your personal story on how donation and/or transplantation has touched your life. Stories can be shared in classrooms, business settings, churches or with civic groups.
Community Events, Health Fairs and Expo’s
We have the ability to reach thousands of people at community events, health fairs and expos. These events usually entail spending a few hours at an informational table talking story with those who visit the booth and telling them about organ & tissue donation.
Office Work
There is so much that goes on behind the scenes of our organization, and you can be a part of it too! We’re always looking for volunteers who can come in and help with mailings or help prepare the educational materials that we share with the community.
DMV Outreach
Join the DMV outreach team to service our DMV’s around the State. At the DMV is where people make the decision to check the box to become an organ/tissue donor. We set up an information table at the DMV and you can also,
Adopt a DMV – by taking the time to visit your local DMV Branch and make sure they’re stocked up on educational materials.
